Violas

The KG #400 violas are the top model instruments in our line. Only the best possible materials are selected and these have been carefully handcrafted with particular attention to the graduation of the plates. The violas are oil varnished in an antique style and are available in the following sizes: 15″, 15½”, 16″ and 16½”.

A new model has recently been introduced in this series, based on a Gasparo da Salo viola of 1580 with a body length of 15 3/8” (391 mm). This popular design produces an excellent smaller instrument that gives more comfort and playability while still maintaining a full viola sound.

The #300 violas are fully handcrafted instruments with attractively flamed maple back, sides, neck and very even grain spruce top. They have a hand brushed oil varnish in antique style and are available in sizes: 15″, 15½”, 16″ and 16½”.

The #200 violas also come in sizes: 15″, 15½”, 16″ and 16½”. The maple used in their construction is nicely flamed and the spruce has an even grain.These instruments are coated in a lightly antiqued varnish and are suitable for intermediate students.

The #100 model is a handcrafted instrument ideally suited to cater for the beginning player up to an intermediate standard. These are available in sizes: 15″, 15½”, 16″ and 16½”.

We also supply a student package (VA100P) that comes complete with a shaped styrofoam case and a bow (strings not included).

The #80 model is similar in construction to our #100 instruments, except the wood has some minor blemishes. This can be also be supplied as a student package (strings not included)
