About KG

KG Instruments International was established in Sydney in 1995. It makes violins, violas, cellos and double basses, from fractional sizes for young beginners up to instruments for the concert stage, and supplies bows, cases, accessories and violin making tools to music shops, teachers and makers in Australia and overseas.

The instruments are made by craftsmen trained in traditional European methods, from a large stock of seasoned tonewood, and every one is set up in the Sydney workshop before it leaves. Every #600E violin and cello has an Italian spruce front and German maple back, ribs and scroll, and since September 2026 comes with an official KG certificate.

At the heart of our shop is our master luthier, Luan. He earned his colours at the prestigious Academia Cremonensis, where he trained for several years under Giovanni Colonna and Luca Maria Gallo, before further refining his craft alongside the renowned Gregg Alf. As our master luthier, Luan brings unparalleled skill and dedication, which shines through in every instrument.
